I was thrilled to find this room in the castle tower hung with 6 mirrored walls. Immediately, Jorge Borges' "La Biblioteca de Babel" came to my mind, an infinite library with hectagonal rooms that fill the universe in their perfect parquetry. I hung the mirrors accordingly, only to learn that they had already been hung this way at the last Schlossmediale by Mirella Weingarten and the Schlossmediale team on the previous theme of "Echo".
The mirror walls multiply the book pages in the room to almost infinity. Borges' story describes an absurd search of the human mind for knowledge and meaning in an infinite universe. In the wind-moving space, the pages of the books flutter, making it almost impossible to read them coherently. What is fixed in the books is also loosened and whirled around by the wind. The books are all about Werdenberg or, more broadly, the canton of St Gallen.
Thanks to the generous donors of the books, Peter Schröder for technical support, Eigenmann Lichtgestaltung for the atmospheric lighting, Corin and Meret for helping with hanging the mirror walls, and Matthias Weninger for helping with the threading of the book pages!
