We are delighted that our project ‘Feinwerk’ has been selected by the jury for the Mikroton Residency.
The project will be presented on 12 June at hp7 (Hans-Poeche-Straße 7, Leipzig Zentrum-Ost) as part of a performative event. Further information will follow on the website and on Instagram.
During the residency, a site-specific, immersive sound installation will be created, featuring an electroacoustic composition made from samples recorded on-site, which will culminate in a concert performance.
We, Hendrik & Andreas, seek direct engagement with the space of the historic Arts and Crafts Centre. We are investigating architectural, historical and spatial characteristics: we are surveying and listening to the building’s structure and the material qualities of the space, and exploring the wider inventory. We are particularly interested in the historic precision engineering workshop – in its history of craftsmanship, its special affinity with materials, and the sonic implications of the various machines, tools and products. Our exploration creates an archive of recorded sound samples, which are then brought together in the next step to form a composition and serve as structuring acoustic elements of the final sound performance.
In the hall on the second floor, an arrangement of sound fields is taking shape – site-specific adaptations of my modular sound space installations. These are connected via instrument strings to suitable structural elements in the room – steel beams protruding from the walls, metal pipes and tanks, ceiling hooks, etc. – thereby creating a resonant relationship. The space thus resonates continuously and becomes a powerful actor in its own right.
Carefully selected objects from the workshop’s inventory are integrated into the installation and the sound performance, updating and accentuating the electronic composition. The installation and spatial elements are sonified via pickups . Through Hendrik’s specially developed electro-acoustic resonators – a synthesis of musical instrument, loudspeaker and artistic object – the sound material from the performative interaction with the space and installation, as well as from the electronic composition, is translated and amplified.
Through its direct contact with the space and its contents, the performance engages with their concrete material and historical conditions, thereby actualising the potentials inherent within them

With the ‘fragil’ project (link), the Leipzig Association of Visual Artists (Bund Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler Leipzig e.V.) is launching an interdisciplinary collaborative initiative at the intersection of visual art, composition and digital sound art. Ten visual artists are collaborating with four composers from Musik Projekt Sachsen e.V. and two musicians from the Digital Sound Art / Digital Music Practice specialist classes at the Neue Musik Leipzig music school.
The starting point is the observation that much of what was long considered stable now appears increasingly fragile: fundamental social and democratic values, peace, the environment, nature and even technological systems. This fragility is not only palpable at a societal level, but also shapes individual experiences. The project takes up this perception and explores how transitions from stability to instability arise: What appears fragile on a personal level, where are the tipping points? Where do fault lines run? And how can these processes be made visible and audible through art?
In addition, a ‘Kultur macht stark’ (Culture Empowers) project (cultural education) entitled ‘Un-Zerreißbar’ is taking place at Haus Steinstraße with children and young people.
In addition to its artistic dimension, the project has a social aim: proceeds from fundraising campaigns will be used to purchase so-called Sheltersuits – weatherproof protective clothing for homeless people in Leipzig. Distribution will take place in cooperation with the Dutch Sheltersuit Foundation and local partners in Leipzig.

"This artistic work is dedicated to Gaza and the people of Gaza.
A fragment in the contours of Gaza. The fragment of a multi-layered, painted-over and sprayed-over identity, removed from its context, isolated from the rest of the world. The many layers tell stories of diverse experiences and events, of displacement, oppression and violence, of attempts at overwriting and erasure, but also stories of humanity and love, of the struggle for survival and the struggle for one another.
I worked on the fragment, scraping away layers and exposing others, leaving some untouched, others remaining hidden, digging here, scratching there. Thinking of Gaza, it was an emotional and painful process. When I think of Gaza, I feel desperate and helpless, angry and sad. How must the people there feel? They tell us, reporting daily, sharing their experiences with us, their blood and tears, their destroyed homes, their murdered children, the constant threat from above, from the side, the hunger and fear from within, and the experience of being left alone, isolated. But they also share their laughter, their incredible vitality and love in the face of destruction, their songs and dances and their hope and strength and beauty, their precious souls.
Gaza reveals the consequences of fanatical fantasies of superiority and claims of ownership, of racism and ideology, as bluntly revealed and mercilessly practiced by the extreme right-wing government in Israel. It reveals our failure, the failure of the international community, of international law, and of universal human rights. It reveals the hypocrisy, especially of Western states, which otherwise hold human rights in such high regard, but make an exception for Gaza. But it also reveals true humanity and the will to live, it reveals the power of culture, of music and art. And it reveals a new force of solidarity and resistance against the logic of dehumanization and ignorance."

"The exhibition Zeitwellen aims to revitalize the Fläming region in Saxony-Anhalt as a center for culture and art. With the help of contemporary art contributions and artistic positions, the beautiful Elbe landscape is to be enriched as a lively meeting place for culture and art.
Against the backdrop of the history of the Simonetti House, the exhibition explores the convergence of different temporalities. Conceived as a contemplative journey, the exhibition aims to become a meeting place where different layers of time interweave. In this context, time is presented not as a continuous line, but as a fragmented network, laden with absences, resonances, and persistence. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on how the narratives of the past inhabit the present, are reactivated, transform, and enter into dialogue with emerging realities.
The exhibition is curated by artists Barbara Bielitz and Mariana Sola and will take place at Simonetti Haus as part of FLAKUPA from October 12, 2025, to November 1, 2025."

June is going to be hot. Fortunately, I have been invited to take part in two exhibitions, which open on the same day at different venues.
On June 21st at 8 pm, the 30th Leipzig Annual Exhibition opens in the Werkschauhalle (Hall 12) of the Leipzig Baumwollspinnerei. I am very proud and happy to be part of it. I will be showing two works: my sound installation FERRUM and my photo series my recent mudras. I will be there and will be very happy to see everyone. The exhibition runs until July 13th. Many thanks to Leipziger Jahresausstellung e.V. for the invitation.
On the same day, the group exhibition Klangkörper - Künstlerische Musikinstrumente (Resonating Bodies - Artistic musical instruments) opens at 7 pm at the Kunstmuseum Heidenheim, where I will present my extended sound space installation TELLURIUM and the sound object installation PNEUMA together with other very exciting sound art works by other artists. Unfortunately, I won't be in Heidenheim for the opening. However, the exhibition runs until October 13th. So there is plenty of time to stop by. So if you're planning to come or are nearby, let me know and maybe we can meet there.
Torsten Pfeffer, a musician and artist friend from Leipzig, will be playing at the Tellurium for the finissage. You can look forward to that with me.
Many thanks to Marco Hompes and the museum for the invitation.

My work PNEUMA was selected for a six-month fellowship in 2024. I'm really looking forward to continuing the work I've started and presenting it further. Many thanks to the Kulturstiftung Sachsen and congratulations to all the other scholarship holders!!!

To mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Brockhaus publishing house founder Friedrich Arnold Brockhaus in Leipzig, the exhibition organized by Industriekultur Leipzig e. V. and Kunstverein ars avanti e.V. is dedicated to the topics of knowledge generation, storage and dissemination. The starting point is the Brockhaus Encyclopaedia, which still appears today as a guarantor of verified knowledge. This self-image is taken up in selected works of art by the artists Stefan Hurtig, Mingren Li and Andreas Schröder and questioned with regard to current or alternative forms of knowledge and data transfer.
